Apple Watch not ringing when iPhone is getting a call & apps cannot be installed.

searched through the communities, it seems this particular problem came up back in WatchOS 7, it seems to me Apple is releasing SW that are worst in quality by the day. I tried everything that is being advised, in many internet info I could find, none seems to work.

Devices Info: WatchOS 9.6 & IOS 16.5.1 (c)

Problems:

  • Apps that were previously installed on Apple Watch, can no longer be installed, when you clicked instal thru the Watch app on my iPhone does seem to do anything after you double-click on the Watch button.
  • Some apps I could installed directly from App Store, some cannot and asked to pay again (these are paid apps which I have bought)
  • second problem is that it seems the inconsistent connection to my other Apple devices, sometimes it connect and sometime not, even though the devices are with me or nearby.
  • I have restarted, unpaired, re-paired, new setup, etc. none seems to work.

Not sure if anyone else has the similar problems and any ideas of how to resolve this?

Thanks

If this was a problem with bugs in Apple's software we would see many more reports here, you would not be the only complainant.

You are reporting the latest software versions for your iPhone and Apple Watch, so no problem there (except you didn't say which models of the hardware). Your reported problems seem to hint at about three likely suspects,

Communication problems to the devices (slow or interrupted cellular or WiFi signals)

Communication problems between your iPhone and your Apple Watch. Electrical interference?

Mismatched Apple ID between the devices

Changes in support by third party Developers in App Store.

Each of these possible problems is sort-of supported in your report, but also indicated as less likely by other comments.

The missing Watch app problem is well known, for example with WhatsApp Messenger because WhatsCrap dropped support for the Apple Watch extension several months ago. That is something you would need to contact the App Developers about.

Also being asked to pay again for an app might be an indication of a new version with an update fee. That is also something you should question with the App developer. It could also be an indication your iPhone and Apple Watch are configured using different Apple IDs.

For the failure to ring (but the Watch appears to work OK for other functions) the most frequent problem is accidentally setting Silent and/or Theatre mode, or the Do Not Disturb focus setting. Swipe up on the watch face to see all these likely suspects and adjust settings as required.

Thanks. On the ringing problems I managed to find an answer in this community using forced restart both my Apple Watch an iPhone one after the other.

on the app unable to install, the only explanation is your last point. However if so, previously installing app on Apple Watch would only need to toggle install on the Watch app on my iPhone. Now it needs me to double click the button on the Apple Watch, not sure if this is a change made recently?
