my MacBook Pro started making clicking noises

As of today my laptop started making clicking noises whenever i click on the touchpad (MBP M1x). It's annoying the **** out of me and I can't seem to turn it off. I looked at other tutorials that said to tick the "silent clicking" tickbox which isn't shown on my trackpad controls in the control center?

does anyone know how to turn this annoying nonsense off? i know for sure it's possible because i can set it between "low" and "high" but i can't turn it off!
