How can I disable clicking sound on my MacBook Air trackpad

The trackpad on my new Macbook Air has suddenly started clicking. It's set to the lowest possible volume for clicking and there is no option for "silent" which I believe there used to be. What can I do about this?!

Hi,

You enable or disable this in the "Point & Click" tab under "Look up & data detectors." On some Mac laptops, you can turn off the sound of your trackpad's click by selecting Silent clicking.

Go to System Settings > Trackpad > Point & Click and turn ``Silent Clicking'' on.

I've checked this just now on my M2 MacBook Air and as the OP stated, there is NO "Silent Clicking" option/toggle under System Settings. I remember with my older M1 MacBook Air (when first released), the "Silent Clicking" option was indeed there, however it did nothing when toggled on/off. I believe Apple removed this "feature" since it never worked (at least in my testing back then).
