Apple one Premium for families around the world

I would like to report that a while ago I started paying for the apple one premium to share with my family.

It turns out that my family is not in the same country where I live.

I would like you to take this into account in the future so that we can use the apps together. I am surprised that a company like apple does not take this into account, and more in these times in which more and more families live in different countries and are looking for more ways to connect.

Physical location of a Family member is not relevant to sharing.

Only the Country / Region set for their Apple ID is used. They can be anywhere in the world, as long as the region set for the Apple ID is the same.

Yes, all Family Sharing members must have their Apple ID set to the same country to even use Family Sharing, let alone Apple One Premiere.

This is because differences in content availability and rights handling of different media providers precludes the same content from being available in different countries at the same time in most cases.

Unfortunately there is very little Apple can do about it.

Except: "Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions - Legal - Apple Media Services - Apple

- "Our Services are available for your use in your country of residence (“Home Country”).

And: "Certain Services and Content available to you in your Home Country may not be available to you when traveling outside of your Home Country."

Apple doesn't provide examples of what that section means, but somebody physically present in a different country from the Family Sharing Organizer might, for example, find that Apple TV+ or music streaming does not work.

True. It may or may not work. In my experience its worked normally in different countries, but yes, it can totally not work for the stated reasons above.

As usual, YMMV.

Yes, you need to provide a payment method from the country you are changing to. This cannot be avoided. It is used to verify you actually are in that country, and not jsut trying to game the system to get access to things from another country.

If they don't have a payment method from your country, then they cannot use your country for their Apple ID, and by extension cannot use Family Sharing.

If they have a payment method from their country, then they can pay for their own Apple One Premiere subscription.

I've been unable to update apps while out of the country. And, Netflix had different content when I was in Canada. It usually doesn't happen the first time you try, just on subsequent attempts to do things.

Odd, I've never had that issue, unless there's a problem with the Wi-Fi.

Netflix, much like Amazon Prime and other non Apple services will change available content dependent on location. Reasons why all these commercial VPNs out there promote the ability to change regions to get different content.

Apple TV+ however, has the same content everywhere, since it's Apple's own content, and they have no distribution issues to deal with for that.
