Cannot delete contacts. It crashes regularly. I ran a EtreCheck report but have no idea what to do with it. This Mac has been nothing but a pain and none of my 3 Macs have ever worked correctly.
I have Carbonite and a LaCie portable hard drive as my backup and run Malwarebytes for virusware.
Any help would be appreciated. Run a charity by myself and technology is not my forte. Thanks
I don't see any of the usual suspects in the report. However, you have some Seagte software intoned but I didn't see a Seagate drive reported. If you have an external Senate drive an installed the software that came with it you should remove it. It's not needed to manage a hard drive that's normally formatted for a Mac. It will only interfere with the systems normal drive management.
Also you have Webroot SecureAnywhere installed. Webroot is a known problem on Macs and should be removed according to the developer's instructions.
Then try the following: d
1 - Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support (for Intel Macs) and Mac startup key combinations - Apple Support (for both types)
2 - How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support
3 - boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.
NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;
• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed
• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)
• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically
• Disables user-installed fonts
• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files
NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.
