Problems with the queue system

The queue system doesn’t work, I’m having so many issues with it. When I play a song it wipes my queue and fills it with songs from a playlist, then I can’t add songs to the queue because now the queue is taken up. Why can’t it just be the same as Spotify? What’s with the add next and add last options? Why can’t I just add songs to the queue and they play in the order I picked them? I’m going back to Spotify if this can’t be solved because this is incredibly frustrating.

iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 15

Auto play is off but it doesn’t make a blind bit of difference.

Are you familiar with how Spotifys queue system works? The songs you add to the queue are separate and take priority over the songs that are generated from a playlist.

If I want to add songs to a queue I have 2 options; play next, play last. So I can’t add songs in the order I want to play them, because the most recent song I picked will play next, and play last means it ends up at the bottom of the songs that have randomly generated and NOT at the bottom of the queue.

Why not simply have an “add to queue” option? Why is a feature that works so flawlessly on Spotify such an absolute disaster on Apple Music?

I really need Apple to fix this queueing system, it works soooo bad. It doesn’t make sense the last song I pick is the first song to play, throwing off the vibes I’m trying to set! I shouldn’t have to think backwards when trying to set up my queue too that’s making me do too much. They give me the option to play last but every song needs to play in the playlist before it comes on? What if my playlist has 250 songs?? Why would I want to wait 15 hrs to hear a song I was just thinking about? That only works if u have no song in the queue…. That would hardly ever be the case I don’t wanna have to constantly make sure a song is playing next up. It makes no sense. It makes it so hard to collaborate w friends, I’m sitting there reorganizing the queue cuz it’s playing it backwards. If I queue song 1, then song 2, it should play song 1 first then song 2. Please fix this Apple. It used to work!! I remember the play after next button. That worked how you would think. It would play that song after the other songs in the queue play first. It’s been like 5 years since it’s been removed and i still pray for the day it comes back. Please fix for iOS 18 please

Hello PrinceMorque,

If you want to change the order of the songs in a playlist, these steps from Create playlists on iPhone - Apple Support may help:

Edit a playlist you created on iPhone
Tap the playlist, tap the More button, tap Edit, then do any of the following:
Add more songs: Tap Add Music, then choose music.
• You can also touch and hold an item (song, album, playlist, or music video), tap Add to a Playlist, then choose a playlist.
Delete a song: Tap the Delete button, then tap Delete. Deleting a song from a playlist doesn’t delete it from your library.
Change the song order: Drag the Reorder button next to a song.
Changes you make to your music library are updated across all your devices when Sync Library is turned on in Music settings. If you’re not an Apple Music subscriber, the changes appear in your music library the next time you sync with your computer.

Have a good day.

Hi PrinceMorque,

We'll be happy to see how we can help in Apple Support Communities with your Music app.

It looks like you used the article Add music to your queue to play next on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Android device - Apple Support to post your question. This is a great resource to use. You are going to want to make sure Autoplay is off. If this feature is on, it will automatically add to the select what will be added to the queue.

To turn Autoplay on or off, tap the Autoplay button the Autoplay button icon in the upper-right corner of your screen. If you turn off Autoplay on one of your devices, then Autoplay is turned off on any device that's signed in with your Apple ID.

Reach back out if you still need help.

Take care!
