502 Bad Gateway Certificate verify failed: unable to get local issuer certificate

i have a MacBook Pro with M2 chip. When trying to access some websites I get the following error message:-

"502 Bad Gateway

Certificate verify failed: unable to get local issuer certificate"

I can access the sites from my iPad with no issue but always get the above when using my MacBook, irrespective of the Browser I use. I have installed the two Apple certs (A2 and A8) as per previous advice but without success.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this irritating issue would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

When you attempt to connect, and get that error, what do you see when you click on the lock in the address bar, like mine above?

Grant,

Thanks for your patience and help so far. When I clicked the padlock everything looked OK but one of the parameters "Cookies and site data" set me thinking. I use AntiTrack software on my Macbook, and it set me thinking whether this was related to the issue. When I added the Pru url to the allow list in the antitrack software and restarted it the site loaded! So although the error message says it is related to the cert the issue turns out to be one related to cookies and antitrack software.

Thanks for your time and help

Gerald
