QuickTime Player destroys iPad Date and Time (menubar)

macOs BigSur 11.7.6

QuickTime Player 10.5 (1090.4.1)

iPad Air 1 iOS 12.5.7

After selecting the QuickTime > File > New Movie Recording the menubar date on iPad changed to invalid "Tue Jan 9" instead of correct one = Fri Jul 21. The time is also changed to invalid.

The funny thing is that the dates shown on Notifications page, iOS settings and on the "Calendar" iOS app are still correct. The change affects only the iPad menubar.

How to fix that?

I found this previous report: discussions.apple.com/thread/251660112.

It didn’t happen for me at first when I tried to replicate it, but it did happen on consecutive tries. (macOS Ventura 13.4.1 (c), iPadOS 16.5.1 (c)). The same effect happens for iPhone.

Besides the time, the charge level was also presented as “100%”, when in fact for me it was at 58% and charging.

It feels like a sort of Demo Mode is activated … 🤷‍♂️ Not sure if or where that can be de-activated.

I have noticed that, too, and it's been going on for a while and still occurs despite several OS upgrades on both my MacBook Pro and my iPhone. Generally I wouldn't mind but I do a lot of recordings of instructional videos for work and the wrong date may falsely indicate an old recording.

I have not found a way to fix this behavior. I was going to document it when I found your detailed post and decided to just piggy back on your report here.
