Unable to watch Apple TV on Sony Bravia

I just changed the Apple TV+ app settings (the app not the TV) to play SD only on. Pixelation is gone and picture looks great. All other apps unaffected. When I play my Apple TV 4 K device on the same TV, this setting is not necessary. The 4K device has the memory and decoders to handle the upgraded signal.
