Favorites lost upon importing from Iphone to Mac

Hi, I have 50 GB's of photos on my phone. Additionally, I mark pictures as "favorite (blue heart)" as I go so I have my pictures organized. Upon importing my photos from my Iphone to my Mac all the photos are the same. Where are my favorites?

Syncing only favourite photos to iCloud I'd like to just sync the photos from my iPhone that are in the favourites folder to iCloud. I have seen many people ask this question in the past but not seeing any answers. Surely after years of asking, Apple have figured out a way of implementing this?? I just want to me able to mark a photo as a favourite and it automatically save to iCloud rather than every single photo I take going to the cloud for backup. Can anyone help?

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you have favorites marked in Photos, but they disappear after importing to your Mac. Which device are they showing all the same?

If they are still showing correctly on iPhone try re-importing them.
