Ipad not showing up under screen mirroring on MacBook (to use as second display)/Connect wirelessly

Macbook Air M1

iPad mini (6th gen)

Those are the two pieces of hardware in question.

Both are:

1)Latest OS

2)Bluetooth on

3)Same WiFi

4) Both are synced and connected over Wifi

5) Can connect via cable

I want to use/connect to the iPad via the MacBook, but it isn't showing up as a Display. Restarted, reset bluetooth, etc. Nothing. Since I got the two, it worked once for a while (after an update), but after subsequent updates, it stopped working

Does Ventura has a bug related to this, am I missing something??Would really like to use the iPad as a display, but wireless

"Forgive if i sound dumb or confused. What does pairing have to do with this or how do i know if it's paired. It supposed to just show up in the Display list right?"

What you typed:

"I want to use/connect to the iPad via the MacBook, but it isn't showing up as a Display. Restarted, reset bluetooth, etc. Nothing. Since I got the two, it worked once for a while (after an update), but after subsequent updates, it stopped working"

What Update(s) did you Install?

Knowing now that this all occurred after an update, which was exactly updated?: The iPhone?; the Mac?; or Both? It may be a bug in the update that needs to be reported to Apple.

Bluetooth Uses "Pairing":

When connect via Bluetooth you are officially "pairing" an item. Look in Bluetooth (found under Settings), and see if it is seen.

Airplay is what you are performing...

Use these two links...

"[...]By any chance, you found a fix for this issue? I'm experiencing the same. Literally tried everything and spent countless hours researching the solutions on forums, YouTube, etc, but still didn't manage a way to use Sidecar"

Try the Following:

A. Disable VPNs:

Are you using a VPN? If so, permissions and data transfer can get misconstrued.

B. Single-Out this User:

For tial-&-error purposes, create and use a new Administrator user, seeing if you get this error. If it works, then it is an issue with the current user. If not then it is an issue within the macOS itself. Trask the user, once troubleshooting is completed.

C. Clear your iPad's Caches:

Backup your iPad, and then restore it from the backup you've just created. Perhaps some caches are getting in the way here? This is essentially the same method as I mentioned in my User Tip: How to Clear "Other" in your iPhone's Storage - Use Backup - User Tip

"Ipad not showing up under screen mirroring on MacBook (to use as second display)/Connect wirelessly: The updates are standard . And more than one update was installed after the period it was working, hasnt worked since. Also note, I said it wasnt working this way from the beginning either: and this is Sidecar not Airplay"

Experience is vague with Sidecar --So, I'll leave it at that.

In addition to the things you verified, the Sidecar support document says that you also need

  • To be signed in with the same Apple ID on both devices, using two-factor authentication
  • To have Handoff enabled on both devices
  • To place the devices within 10 meters (30 feet) of each other
  • To turn OFF sharing of Internet connections on both devices
