“How to watch” - I already have Apple TV

Why am I being prompted “how to watch” when I have an Apple TV app and paying the fee?

No, of course not. As explained in the terms of use to which we all agreed when we signed up, this is a user-to-user forum. Apple doesn't actively participate here.

It says "You can buy, rent, or subscribe in the Apple TV app on iPhone, iPad, and other streaming devices".
The word 'subscribe' is misleading because it suggests you may get it free if subscribed BUT this is just a lazy description which covers all of the actions you can do, all of them are separate actions:
you can buy it
• you can rent it
• you can subscribe (to Apple TV+)

The fact that it's three separate actions is clearly indicated by the use of the word "or". At least it's clear to those of us who don't think "lol" is punctuation.

In the US, you (currently) can subscribe to Apple TV+ on Amazon Fire TV, but you can’t purchase other content from the Apple TV app. On Amazon Fire TV (in other regions), Android TV, and Sony TV devices, you (currently) can’t purchase content from the Apple TV app. You can buy, rent, or subscribe on another supported device and then watch in the Apple TV app on your Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, or Sony TV device [from: footnote 2 on support document 102472].

So, for buy, rent, or additional subscribe actions, please do so on a different device (e.g. Mac, PC, iPhone, iPad, Roku, LG TV, Samsung TV, PlayStation, Xbox, or Vizio TV), using the matching Apple ID account.

This is about the financial transactions (and the cut that the platform takes), not about the content or services per se. Future agreements may change this, but for now you’ll have to do mentioned workaround.

it has absolutely nothing to do with 'free'

Fix the laziness lol
