view clips and edits separate in the storyline

does anyone know how to view your individual video clips and edits in the storyline so they are separate? final cut pro has made it all into one storyline so I now cant see the individual clips to make further edits

Let me see if I got it right:


You had the P1000250 Synchronized clip in the primary storyline, and several other clips connected above it - is that it?

They are not appearing in the timeline now, but they still appear in the viewer when you play the project?

That's weird.

The only way I could see that happening is if you'd selected everything and made a compound clip - but the screenshot does not show a compound clip...

Double-clicking the synchronized clip opens it in its own timeline.

If the layers appear there, it would indicate that the OP effectively made the edits inside the synchronized clip.


If it were a compound clip, one could do Clip->Break Apart Clip Items, and it would replace the compound by its constituents. However, this functionality does not apply to Synchronized Clips.

An alternative is to open the Sync Clip by double-clicking, then select all, copy, and paste directly into the project, en lieu of the existing clip.
