Transfer Playlist From iPhone to Mac

I recently had a hard drive go bad and was able to recover the majority of my music files from a backup. However, many of my playlists are now empty. Is there a way to copy the playlists (not actual music) from my iPhone to my Mac. The iPhone was up-to-date and I could manually move files on my Mac to the playlist but that's a big hassle. Is there a setting so that I can synch my iPhone playlists back to my Mac. I really hate to lose what I already have on my iPhone, so would appreciate any guidance.
