OS 11.7.4 - Apple Mail will not open browser at prompt to add Google account

I have had Gmail working properly in Apple Mail for a very long time in my personally owned MacBook Pro. I had to update my Gmail password due to a security breach and as soon as I did Apple mail prompted me to go to the internet to fix the issue (adding a google account requires this in Mail). The window just stays open after you click "open browser" and shows a whirly ball. Google, Safari, Chrome, all of the above work just fine. it is getting Apple Mail to figure this situation out that is the challenge. HELP! Here is the screen shot of what happens when it asks if I want to open a browser (to update the account).
