Sky News Apple TV App breaks after ad

Hello,

I've been using the Sky News app for years on Apple TV and it's recently been unusable due to advertising content that has started appearing. When you open any menu selection in the app an ad plays. After completion it takes you back to the menu. The geo-targeted ad content is new - it's only started appearing in the last couple of weeks.

I've tried force quitting the app, removing and re-adding the app (and deleting the data), and restarting the Apple TV. I have an Apple 4K model, so the age of the hardware should not be an issue. It's on the current TV OS.

Anyone have an ide on how to resolve this?

(FYI, I can't seem to find any way to contact Sky News App Support. The link in the App Store just takes you to the main Sky News website).

… so seems like Apple TV issue not the Sky News app.

That is not how it works though. The app has to be made custom for each platform, so the app for LG TV and the app for Apple TV may appear the same, but they are coded differently. In both cases by programmers working for Sky though.

I tweeted @SkyNews because there's no way to contact them about this. I think they added the ads to try and make some $'s (or UKP) and never actually tested it, at least for US users. I don't mind an ad, but this used to be my go-to source of UK news.

Same issue with same Apple TV model and running latest version of the app. App works fine from version running from my (LG) TV in native mode, so seems like Apple TV issue not the Sky News app.

Yeah I suspect something along those lines too. Btw it affects us UK users too. Very frustrating.
