Iphone voice to text adding extra words at the beginning of sentence

With the last couple of ios updates voice to text has been randomly adding single syllable words at the beginning of whatever I am trying to text, most commonly "Oh". I'm speaking clearly and nothing else has changed, it's super annoying and has only been doing it for the last couple of updates. Anyone else? That's not the only problem either but it is very specific. I feel like voice to text has been getting dumber in general over the past couple of years.

Troubleshooting iPhone zip dates:

I’ve seen this reported many times. Question is: "Just how many people have actually reported it directly to Apple?"

Report this to Apple

Do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this post
  4. Proceed from there as necessary

Remove these from your Library and Auto-Correct:

Learned Spelling as played a key role in this, and that seems to be where the bug comes in to play. So, having reported it, Apple has been made aware of it.

  1. Go To: Settings
  2. Tap: General
  3. Tap: Keyboards
  4. Tap: Text Replacement
  5. Tap: Edit
  6. Remove these words

I have experienced similar despite being on a much older iOS over 2023.

I use voice-to-text rather frequently and have started noticing words like ‘paragraph’ and ‘said’ as well as others being inserted at the start of sentences. Although, more recently it’s just become more inaccurate, inserting words with no phonetic similarity to what was actually said, if anything was even said there in the first place.

This is rather bizarre considering how close to perfect it used to be. There were always a couple of errors but this was often down to accent or bizarre words. It was rare enough that myself or people reading it would be able to understand what was meant to be written. Now, after long or text paragraphs, it’s hard to go back to such words and figure out what was meant to be there in the first place especially when some of these words are inserted as surplus.

Aside from sometimes replacing the first word with another, one rare occurrence occurring on my Mac is certain phrases will be instantly typed out incorrectly as something completely different. I could say, “what is the location of (XYZ)” and before I even finish, it immediately types out, “Auckland store on Queen street.” a sentence bearing no relation to what was said. These are fake examples.

Funnily enough, it recognises immediately that this is not what was said. Paragraph only to quickly delete these words letter-by-letter and type out what was actually said.

Such phrases are usually one of three which are typed out in varying degrees of length. I don’t even understand where this information is being stored for it to be recalled in such a bizarre manner.

like yourself, I too would love to gain some insight into why these things are happening.
