Apple Watch Siri Shortcut set Playback Destination Failed Homepod not supported
I am running into this error despite restarting everything and I am wondering if this is truly not supported or if I am experiencing a bug.
I have a Siri Shortcut setup on my iPhone that does 2 things:
- Set playback destination to Living Room (Homepod Mini)
- Play Music (set to any album/artist/etc)
The shortcut works every time from my iPhone. But after syncing the shortcut to my Apple Watch and calling the shortcut through Siri on my watch, it fails with this error each time:
"Sorry, something went wrong. Shortcuts says, "Set Playback Destination failed because the specified device is not supported as a playback destination on Apple Watch"
This seems odd because when I go to the music app from my watch, I can choose the Living Room (Homepod Mini) as a playback destination. I don't see any technical limitation here.
I did basic troubleshooting like restarting everything, recreating the shortcut and re-syncing, and it fails with the same error. I am curious at this point if it's simply not supported or if I am experiencing a bug.
I feel like this should work. Apple's ecosystem should allow all of the devices to talk to each other, and they do. Just not through Siri Shortcuts?
Can anyone confirm if this shortcut is possible from Apple Watch to a Homepod?
