Siri Glitching with Tesla Shortcuts on Apple Watch – Only Partial Execution (Bonnet/Boot)
I’m experiencing a persistent issue with Siri and Shortcuts on Apple Watch when trying to control my Tesla. The issue isn’t that Siri doesn’t trigger the shortcuts—it does, but the commands only execute partially or glitch
Setup:
iPhone 16e – iOS 18.5
Apple Watch Series 9 – watchOS 11.5 (model MRMD3ZP/A)
Tesla app version – 2025.14.3.2
The issue:
When I use Siri on the Apple Watch to run Tesla shortcuts (e.g., “Open Boot” or “Open Bonnet”), the commands trigger—but don’t fully execute:
- The boot (trunk) opens slightly then stops half way as if it’s been activated twice
- The bonnet (frunk) opens fine (I have an Auto Frunk), but then closes by itself or when I use Siri command to close it, it does so half way then stops, leaving frunk half open.
When I manually press the shortcuts on the watch, they execute perfectly. Siri voice commands on the iPhone also execute the shortcuts correctly every time.
What I’ve tried:
- Reinstalled both Tesla and Shortcuts apps.
- Set up the Apple Watch as “Set Up for Myself” (not family mode).
- Tested microphone input – it works perfectly.
- Watch is not in Low Power Mode or Theatre Mode.
- New Apple Watch, clean setup – same issue persists.
Context:
- These are native Tesla Shortcuts, and there’s no “Add to Siri” option showing.
- Shortcuts added to Home Screen and display correctly.
- The issue appears unique to Siri on Apple Watch – not the shortcut itself or its Tesla execution when triggered manually or via iPhone Siri.
Interestingly, my wife’s Series 7 Apple Watch doesn’t have this issue – same Tesla, same shortcut setup.
Has anyone experienced this kind of glitchy execution when using Siri on Apple Watch for Tesla controls? Is this a bug in watchOS 11.5, a Siri-Shortcuts integration flaw, or something else?
Any advice or workarounds appreciated.
Thanks!
