Airpods

Basically, when i plug my Airpods into the charger its light turns orange and then promptly turns back off and no lights come on. And then if i hit the button on the back it does the orange flash and then yet again, no light. Its been on the charger for about an hour or so and nothing is happening. I've been trying to research and look at other peoples questions and answers but nothing works for it.
