How can I output 5.1 audio from MacBook Air M2 2022?
I have just bought a new MacBook Air M2 2022 2 days ago to replace my MacBook Pro 2017. This is my set up:
[MacBook Air] Apple type C HDMI adapter--HDMI---[Yamaha receiver HTR-3066]---Samsung TV
It was the same connection with my MacBook Pro before, I tested with the Audio MIDI setup, all 5.1 speakers output no issue. I used VLC player (3.0.18 Vetinari (Apple Silicon)) to played a M4V file encoded the AC3 or DTS, choosing the surround audio track and "Encoded output", it just output the "white noise" (szzzzzzz) and the Yamaha receiver displays the encoder as "PCM" as usual. I tested the AC3 file with the QuickTime, there is no option to select sort of "Encoded output". Once I switch to stereo audio output, the sound came out no issue.
The same cable, adapter and connection with the MacBook Pro 2017, it works just fine. The Yamaha output 5.1 and encoder displays as "Dolby Digital" or "DTS" in accordance.
Both laptops are on the same macOS 13.4.1, any ideas?
Thanks
MacBook Air (M2, 2022)
