TitlePanicDisplay

Hi —

I bought an ASD about 3 months ago to update a 4K LG monitor connected to my M1 Mini. There was no issue with screen quality of the LG, just that it needed separate webcam, speakers etc. The ASD had been amazing, everything just worked as it should, screen quality was amazing – I wasn't even too bothered about the slightly poor quality of the webcam.

A couple of weeks ago I tried to join a MS teams call and the screen went black with 3 dots appearing. When the screen came back on my Mac did a "soft" restart of the Finder and the error "TitlePanicDisplay" came up. I left it and it cycled through the same issue and so I forced a shut down. I then tired FaceTime and Zoom and the same thing happened, though this time there was a delay before the back screen when the application showed the screen as being fully green in all apps.

After going through everything with Apple online and phone support, I had to take it back to the Apple Store. Even though I didn't have AppleCare, they were good enough to give me a full refund and not even bother with a repair because they said I'd had such a poor experience.

I'd like to get another but I'm concerned that the fact that the ASD has Apple Silicon inside means it's susceptible to crashes etc – unlike a "dumb" display. Does anyone else have any experience with this happening?

Thanks
