Was having some issues so I tossed the gmail and now I can not reinstall. Cannot find anything anywhere that works. Have deleted Keychain certificates...

Delete the account, when setting up in Mail choose Other>IMAP instead of gMail...
I actually managed to sort it out! Rather than set up as google I clicked other… added my gmail address and used the app password that I’d managed to suss out and generate ( rather than my gmail password!) and it worked!!

Mac's Mail App is not as modern as iOS's Mail app, Many eMail providers now require a separate App Password different from your eMail password…
It might just need an App Password separate from the gMail password…

I'm still not having any luck. What do you mean "suss out" the app password (rather than gmail password)??
What app? Mail??? how do I suss it out?
I have already deleted the gmail account on Mail, but when I try to set up by clicking on Other, I get "unable to verify account name or password"
thank you so much I will what I can find...in the meantime while checking out passwords, I just found another ipad listed on my account, which I just deleted. yikes.
