iTunes will not allow sync of iPod Classic in Windows 11

Purchased a new computer and transferred all files and formats from old (Windows 10) to new (Windows 11). After connecting iPod to iTunes, the iPod is recognized as normal, however, the option to 'sync' is greyed out and cannot be clicked. The only options are 'eject', 'transfer purchases from iPod', or 'reset warnings'. This is the first time i have seen the sync option missing. It was never an issue on old computer.

Thank you. Under the Summary tab, there is no option for sync except "sync only checked songs and videos" which is greyed out.

Under the music tab, if I check the "sync" box, I get a message where it wants to erase the iPod and then load what is on the computer. "Music synced to iPod from other iTunes libraries will be removed and items will be synced from this iTunes library."

I don't want to do this as it looks like I have more songs on the iPod than I do on the computer (not sure why). I want to make sure i don't lose anything.
