iMessage Attachments Not Deleting

I keep trying to delete attachments/photos from an iMessage contact. Some of the attachments were deleted and others were not. I went to the iPhone settings and deleted large attachments. The iCloud is not enabled. I even scrolled through the thread for over an hour and could not find the photos I’m trying to delete. Yet, they still show up in my attachments.

How do I get the attachments deleted?

I have IOS 16.5.1
