Looking for help to connect our MacBook Air to our Printer/SCANNER (mostly)

We Have a MacBook Air M1 13.4 year 2020. ThunderBolt 3 (Bridge not connected or active at the moment)

The MacBook Air just has TWO USB Cs on one side.

we have a Canon Printer/Scanner/ imageClass MF217w

All In One, Copier, Fax, Scanner

Wired and Wireless Printer and scanner.

we need our MacBook Air to connect and talk to the scanner part of our Printer. We don’t have the Software disk anymore( misplaced in our house moving) so the MacBook doesn’t have any of the drivers or software installed from our multiple printer machine. I was able to get the MacBook Air to find and Recognize the printer since the printer is wireless, But the MacBook can’t find the scanner part. I had bought a USB C Hub Adapter

USB C Hub Adapter MacBook - UtechSmart 7 in 2 MacBook Pro/Air Accessories Multiport Adapter with Thunderbolt 3 Port, 100W PD 5K@30Hz, 40Gbps 4K HDMI, 3*USB3.0 Data Port SD and MicroSD Card Reader https://a.co/d/eOuEEqf

I hook the Printer/scanner USB A CABLE to the USB C Hub Adapter and tried to set up or add the scanner to the MacBook Air but still couldn’t find or add the scanner part? I tried to download a scanner driver from the Canon website but still no luck.

does anyone have the same kind of Canon multipurpose printer and Scanner as we do? and if they know or can suggest anything that can help me get our MacBook Air to add and find a scanner to our MacBook Air?

or what kind of USB C Hub adapter that I should get? or what kind of USB cable to get So I can be able to get the Scanner part to work?

we already have the printer part set and have the computer to find and Recognize the PRINTER wirelessly, BUT we couldn’t get the Printer/Scanner to find and Recognize the Scanner part?

I have already tried to add and setup the computer to try to find and recognize the Scanner part with the USB A Cable that came with the Printer/Scanner and hooked up with the Adapter Hub, but no luck, even with the Driver installed.
