Logic pro x not working with focusrite scarlett 4i4

Hello,

I'm experiencing a problem with my Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 (3rd Gen) when used with Logic Pro X. Interestingly, it works perfectly with GarageBand. Both applications are running under the same hardware and software configurations, but for some reason, Logic Pro X just doesn't cooperate.

My system info:

  • MacOS Ventura 13.4
  • Logic Pro X 10.7.8
  • Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 - 3rd Gen

Here's the issue: When I use Logic Pro X, I only manage to get some guitar sounds in, but they're very poor and distorted (note: I'm not using any pedals or external hardware here).

While the input meter appears to show good levels of input, the quality of the recorded sound is unacceptable. I can only get some input on Channel 1 from the Focusrite, and that's regardless of the input selection in Logic Pro X. However, the recorded sound is not usable. Strangely, there is absolutely no input from Channel 2 of the Focusrite on any inputs in Logic Pro X.

Here are the steps I've already tried to fix the problem:

Despite the same hardware and settings, GarageBand operates without any issues on the same Mac.

I would appreciate any suggestions or solutions to help resolve this issue. Thank you!

I was just trying to find answers to this and came upon your thread. I found the answer here:

I was trying out this isolation mode one day and left it switched on. For some reason (I guess a bug really), it also applied this isolation mechanism to the inputs of the audio interface?? Not sure, but turning it off fixed it. Hope this helps someone.

So i did some more testing but it seems that is only related to logic pro x. Other DAW work without a problem and also using a different audio interface does not solve the problem of the guitar recording that it is distorted, fragmented barely hearable sound.

I have also tried to delete the .plist files audio related, reset logic pro x settings but it all did not help.

anybody some more suggestions, i am really stuck with this now.
