How do I find out which (of my many) card(s) on my Apple ID a subscription charged to?

Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to reply to: How do I find out which card on my Apple … - Apple Community

... because I have this exact question and the reply there isn't helpful at all because it assumes that there is only one single card and then it's easy. The answer given there was:

On your iPhone open Settings ➔ Apple ID (Your Name at Top) ➔ Payment & Shipping ➔ Here you will see your card listed under Payment Method. That is the card that is being used to pay for subscriptions that you purchased from the App Store.

But I see Apply Pay and my two Mastercards in that list - one is private, the other is business, and with Apple IDs not properly supporting separating private and business transactions (but it's also not feasible to use different Apple IDs to separate business from private), it's a bit of a mess.

What makes things worse: There even is a "Current Subscriptions" section when tapping on my Mastercards. But that only shows one single subscription for each card - but I have six active subscriptions. And when using "Manage Subscriptions", I see all my six subscriptions on both cards, and going into the details of each subscription doesn't tell me which card is used for this specific subscription.

"Apply Pay" doesn't show any subscriptions, only "Open Wallet".

So ... How tf do I find out which (of my many) card(s) on my Apple ID a subscription charged to?

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 16

Go Settings, Safari, Autofill, Saved Credit Cards. You can rename them, delete them, add to them.....

Re: "Unfortunately most of us in business positions use one CC for business and another for personal".

If you use one account for both purposes, seems you can drag any card you want to use next to the top of your list of cards, and that card will be the one charged for the current (or upcoming) transaction.

If you wish, you can sign in to your account online to see the order of your cards, and manage your Apple ID account:

Re: Apple needs have a way to pay for some subscriptions with on CC and others with another at the same time.

We are all Apple users like yourself, in the community ... if you want Apple to change things to suit your way of working, you may want to send feedback, (or a feature request) to Apple, to reach those who work behind-the-scenes at Apple, and who can make changes if others are also requesting them.

Re: "find out which (of my many) card(s) on my Apple ID a subscription charged to"

Which card is listed first in your Apple ID account ... Apple charges that one, or tries to charge that one first.

The most accurate way to keep track would be to see which card-provider's statement shows those charge(s).

How to see what you were charged for, if you want to:

If you see 'apple.com/bill' on your billing statement - Apple Support

Seems, if you maintain one, Apple always tries an Apple Account balance first,

then works down the list of cards in the order they are listed in your Apple ID account, until a charge can be made.

As you have more than one payment method for purchases from Apple:

you can control which method is tried first, by dragging it to the top of the list.

With active subscriptions, you need to always keep at least one card listed as a payment method .

Else, you can add or delete cards, or make changes whenever needed.
