No minimize option from full screen

Why is there no "minimize" option when you are in full screen on the Macbook Pro? You have to waste time clicking the "exit full screen" button and only then the "minimize" one. What is the logic behind this? Is there another way to minimize an app to the dock directly from full screen? Windows has that feature and it's a time saver.

I found a way around this situation. For Safari, I exit Full Screen, then stretch the window from the corners so that it fills the screen but I am technically not in Full Screen. Then I can minimize this window. Just don't ever go to Full Screen using the green button and you can continue to minimize this large window.
