Safari Favourite apps icons missing

Hi friends,

I have paired via my AppleID account my MacBook and iPad. Bookmarks and favourites in the Safari dashboard are the same, are synchronised but any app icons are missing in my MacBook.

I attach screenshot from both devices. Eg. Booking icon is on both, Jira on iPad only, Atlassian (2nd and 3rd in the 1st row) on Macbook only, etc.

How to update icons on both devices and synchronised them?

Thanks.

MacBook, OS Ventura 13.2.1

iPad, iPadOS 16.3.1

EDIT: after adding this topic into favourites, on MacBook icon is missing (I see "S" on grey background), on iPad is visible.

Hey there and welcome to Apple Support Communities whatever889,

We can certainly understand your concern and can help provide some insight.

Looks like your iPad is out of date. An update has been released. Updating can help with most irregularities the device is experiencing. Please back up your device and update it to iPadOS 16.5. For more information, check out:

Let us know if you are still experiencing the same issue after you update.

Kindest regards!

Hi whatever889,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! To clarify, you mentioned they are syncing between devices, however, are they accessible as well? If you add a new site using the steps below, does the same issue occur:

Add websites to your Favorites in Safari on Mac

1. In the Safari app  on your Mac, move the pointer over the Smart Search field.
2. Click and hold the One-Step Add button  that appears at the left end of the field, then choose Favorites.
3. You can also click in the Smart Search field, then drag the URL of the website you’re viewing to the Favorites bar near the top of the window, the Favorites folder in the sidebar, or the Favorites area on the start page.

Thank you.

Simply if a few steps

  1. go to website in Safari on my MacBook
  2. Cmd + D to put website into favourites
  3. in MacBook's Safari dashboard page is added, without icon
  4. in iPad Safari dashboard page is added, with icon

And I want to know why icons aren't visible in my MacBook's Safari. Not all, just some of them, check my screenshots in the first answer.

And no, I'[m not Apple products newbie, I'm using them for many years, just now I don't know why these icons aren't visible (probably not the syncing problem between devices, it's just MacBook problem with current Safari).

Thanks for your answer.

My iPad version isn’t the problem, icons are bad in my MacBook (apps was added there are aren’t there). Sync between both works independtly on iOS version (newly added favourites are in both devices, incl. iPad with probably older iOS version - favourite page was added in MacBook, hasn't icon there, synced to iPad, with correct icon).

Any real idea where problem could be?

Thanks.
