"Follow Up Suggestions" in Mail App causes deleting a bcc message to delete the sent copy as well.

I recently got a new iphone (IOS 16.5). I discovered that if I bbc myself on a message or simply send myself message that if I delete the message from my inbox, the copy in sent messages is deleted as well.

Looking through the community discussions I saw other people having a similar problem:

No solution was given.

I did some testing and discovered that if I turn off the "Follow Up Suggestion" feature in mail under settings that the problem for me goes away. I.e. if I delete the message from my inbox, the copy in sent messages is no longer deleted as well.

I could not add to those discussions, but I'm posting my solution to help anyone else who may have this issue. I suspect it is a bug in Ventura and not just on the iphone.

Turning off follow up suggestions worked for a while, but then the issue came back for me.

i have multiple mailboxes on my iPhone, connecting to exchange (with intermedia), Microsoft 365, and one iCloud account.

As a test, I sent an email from mailbox 1, to mailbox 2 (intermedia) mailbox 3 (Microsoft 365) and Mailbox 4 (iCloud).

The email correctly arrives in mailbox 2,3 & 4 (and goes into Sent folder of mailbox 1).

If I delete the message from any of the 3 inboxes (eg mailbox 2), IOS Mail also deletes it from ALL the other mailboxes (eg inbox of mailbox 3,4 and also the Sent folder of mailbox 1).

If I then delete the message from the bin of any of the mailboxes, it only deletes it from that mailbox.

In summary, deleting from one mailbox, deletes the message from all mailboxes that are visible on your phone that have been sent the same message.
