M1 Underscan Issue

The M1 stopped remembering the display underscan settings a few updates back, and this has still not been dealt with despite numerous attempts to get it done by actually calling Apple support and wasting an hour with polite staff who acknowledge the problem but don't fix it.

The workaround I have developed is:

  1. Open settings>displays and scroll to the underscan slider.
  2. Now shutdown with the 'Reopen windows when logging back in' ticked.

This means that at least the underscan slider is ready to be adjusted when you start up and stays there in the background while you go about your day using other apps. I only use this machine for Logic production work.
