Does the fitness app can update your steps if you let the Apple Watch at home?

Hello everyone,

Maybe it’s a stupid question but somehow I can’t find the answer.

I have an Apple Watch sync to my Iphone and sometimes I go for a walk without the watch. Does the activity ring is supposed to update with the steps recorded on the health app?

Because so far, it only works with the watch.

Thanks

iPhone X, iOS 16

Open Fitness app in iPhone

  1. Tap your picture or initials at the top right.
  2. Tap Health Details.
  3. Ensure your details are all there.
  4. When you’re finished, tap Done.

If you don't have data from your iphone tap on Data Sources & Access and ensure your current iphone name is a data source.

If you still have no luck come back or contact Apple Support.

Hello JulieBentex,

Please check out this link, which explains what you can do with your Apple Watch when your iPhone isn't nearby, and may be helpful: Use your Apple Watch without your iPhone nearby

If your Apple Watch can't connect to Wi-Fi, cellular, or your iPhone

When your Apple Watch is disconnected — for example, if you're hiking in an area without Wi-Fi or cellular signal, or your iPhone is off — you can still do these things.

Track your workouts.

See the time and use the AlarmTimer, and Stopwatch apps.

Track your activity goals.

Display photos from synced photo albums.

Play music, podcasts, or audiobooks that you've synced to your watch.

Make purchases with Apple Pay

Check your heart rate

Relax and breathe mindfully

Record thoughts and ideas.

Get your bearings with Compass.

Protect your hearing.

Track your menstrual cycle.

Track your sleep.

Measure your blood oxygen level.

Take an ECG.

Check and update your calendar.

View and add contacts.

Track your medications.
