Reinstalling apps under new Apple ID
Many years ago my ex and I shared an Apple ID. When family sharing became available, she got her own Apple ID and began to use that. Her phone has a mix of apps installed under my ID and her own. Since we separated and she removed herself from the family sharing, she is unable to update any apps associated with my ID and it is asking for me to sign in. I have read that the solution is to delete the apps and reinstall them under her ID. My questions are:
- Some apps have data stored on the phone. Won't deleting and reinstalling it delete the data?
- To avoid deleting data, would offloading the app work? Or will it remain associated with the old Apple ID in that case?
- If I provide my password just for the purpose of downloading/upgrading these apps does that create any other security vulnerabilities?
- Would adding her back to the family share temporarily solve the problem for now? I could remove her after apps update.
To make things more complicated, I recently changed my Apple ID. So the Apple ID she is being prompted to provide a password for is my old one, not my new one. Not sure how that would affect things.
