Slow SMB performance on MacOS Ventura 13.4

Apple is doing weird things with SMB connections, so you will need to talk to whoever the Administrator of your SMB file server is and ensure they have something called "fruit" enabled. For example:

In smb.conf [general] section: (Between the ##)

vfs objects = dfs_samba4 acl_xattr fruit streams_xattr catia

fruit:nfs_aces = no

fruit:veto_appledouble = no

I have the same problem. Its veeeeery slow! The connection often breaks completely.

Searching in SMB shared folders is not possible.

E.g. Transferring 10 pictures with 2MB total takes several minutes!!

I have a Synology NAS and M1 Macbook Pro.

It's almost unusable now. I have a rack-mount server with a ZFS pool of SSDs, and a 10gbit network connection to it. An 11gb transfer of 5 thousand photos has been going for over 12 hours, and it's not even half done. Ironically, the time estimate from finder is "16 minutes". I think it means "16 hours", lol
