Did you try rebooting your machine...?

TouchID simply uses your admin/user passwd

Thankyou, appreciated ! - I created the password , its been working well as I access the doc weekly - I made no changes I searched keychain and could not see anything relating to pages or the document concerned .

I have had same computer since 2007 - its really mysterious how it changed overnight at same time as upgrade . I had two versions of the file older and an updated one and they both are inaccessible.

What exact Mac from 2007 runs Ventura...???

If you are the owner of the Pages document and you set the password with the optional Remember this password in the keychain, then an attempt to open the document in your account (on the same Mac) will have Pages asking Keychain for the password and the document just opens without your intervention. This would work as long as the integrity of the original keychain remains and you did not change your username or id from that document's original ownership. Two-factor-authentication has nothing to do with opening local password protected documents.

If this document were created by someone else, and they password protected it, whether using keychain or not, you will need to manually enter that password at the document prompt.
