I was not able to log in using my password. It looked like I was locked out so I quit. I tried to reset my password and when through the process using Apple ID and password. Message that password reset failed User volume not found or not recognized. I never got to a screen to allow me to reset my password.

Top Tool Bar >> Utilities >> Terminal
Type resetpassword as one word and no spaces
Press Return key
Follow the prompts and remember the New Password

I had the same. Got into a weird loop so I thought. It appears that the old password looks filled in, but actually isn't. Really bad UX from Apple and should be fixed asap.
Its dutch, but the field below "annuleren" (Cancel) looks filled but actually isn't.. So you think everything is ok, but it is not. This means that the UX team of apple has work to do..

My MacBook Pro is locked , when starting only goes to login as well as password, if tapping “forgot password” does not recognise. Tried to reset all ways- No good Mac says no WiFi even when connect at menu bar.
Any suggestions appreciated.
