No volume control when playing music via CarPlay

Why can we not control the music volume, or when my iphone is connected by CarPlay? The navigation system or car dashboard can not change the volume. The side buttons on my iphone can not change it. The volume controls on my steering wheel can not change it. What is going on?? A lot of people have the same issue! (My phone is up-to-date and I have a new car.)

I’m having the same issue, and it’s never happened to me before. I’ve had my car for 2.5 years and have never had an issue. I updated to iOS 16.5 the other morning and now my volume knob and steering wheel buttons are no longer working when using CarPlay.
