How to fix file name auto-population issue on macOS PDF Printing

I am having a similar problem on a new M1 iMac. Has anyone else experienced losing the file name when printing to PDF utilizing the built-in MacOS feature? Every time I print to PDF it loses the original document name and auto populates with "untitled" in the file name input field. This does not happen with my 2017 MBPro.

I have the same problem in Word. I now use Save As and then select PDF from the list of File Formats (default of which is Word Document .docx).

Use the Command P to open the print dialog and compare your results...

Hello leroydouglas

Thanks. The suggestion works for some file types. i.e printing a web page for example. It did not work for MS Excel, Word. It did work for Powerpoint files.

What did work is to select "Send in Mail". In the email attachment the .pdf file has the correct title. Then drag the file to the desktop. Just using Save as PDF got an "untitled" for the MS Word and Excel files.

I'm having the same issue on my 2020 MacBook Pro i7 with Ventura 13.4 and MS Word 16.74. I do not have the issue with another user account on the same computer. Tried working with MS support to no avail. Tried deleting anything Microsoft in ~/Library, and in any subfolders, then uninstalling and reinstalling MS Office. No change. I have yet to try renaming my current ~/Library to ~/OLDLibrary and seeing if a new home folder Library fixes it. I just don't want to re-configure all settings in my user account if I do.
