I got a 7th gen iPad and while I was updating my OS to 16.5 the keys got weird. In this video I am typing 1527 (the sack of Rome) and the when swiping down for the numbers it glitched to typing keys that I did not touch. https://youtu.be/VK7dOt4JJSA

I am also facing the exact same issue after updating on 16.5. You cant fix this issue by hard reboot or factory reset your device. there is some bug in software update. hope apple fixes it soon because without proper functioning of keyboard you cant use your device and this issue is quite annoying.

This may sound like a simple step, but have you tried restarting your iPad to see if this behavior continues? A restart can often resolve issue like this: Restart your iPad - Apple Support
We also noticed this happening in the Safari search bar. Does this occur elsewhere, for example in the Notes or Messages app?
