iPad 105 8th Generation 17.4.1 keyboard issue

iPad has keyboard appearing at top of screen all of a sudden, instead of at the bottom of the screen. How can I fix this?

Onscreen keyboard moved to mid screen - now unable to view item responding to...IPad pro 2016, last IOS16 update. Updated IOS16 recently (before IOS17 tossed me out of support chain). It was the last IOS16 update and the keyboard moved from native/always bottom of screen location to midway. This now overlays (obscures but allows entry from keyboard) anything I may be attempting to write until I hide the keyboard. I then need to bring it up to type further. This means a back and forth procedure that is nearly obscene. Is there a reset or known procedure to get this back to it's home position?

iPadOS 16.4.1 — update yesterday causing a problem Since I ran the update yesterday, the keyboard pops up on the screen to the middle of the page, disallowing me from seeing the rest of the page. This is happening on any page or app on which I use the keyboard, i.e. notes, iMessage, Facebook.

Touch-and-hold the “keyboard” key at bottom-right of the on-screen keyboard; without lifting your finger from the screen, slide your finger to the [Merge &] Dock option - then release.
