Change Font in Keynote is Super Slow

This was asked before and 47 people had the same problem. The reply was useless and nobody marked it 'helpful'. Can somebody address this issue please? I just tried to change font in Keynote and the rainbow wheel slowed down almost to a stop.

This wastes huge amounts of my time. I'm getting so close to going back to PowerPoint.
