Hi JoanGY,
If you are seeing a prompt to sign in with an old Apple ID, does this occur when attempting to update apps? You can check to see if you have pending app updates for download on your Mac using: How to manually update apps on your Apple device - Apple Support
If so, the apps are associated with your old Apple ID, which is why you're being prompted to enter the password. In this case, you'd want to remove the apps and download them again to associate them with your new Apple ID. It's important to note, if you previously paid for the apps under your old Apple ID, you'd need to purchase them again for your new Apple ID.
In addition, if there is any data within the apps that you are concerned about losing, reach out to the app developer prior to deletion for data saving tips: How to contact an app developer - Apple Support
Alternatively, you can follow the steps here to help reset the password for your old Apple ID: If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support
This has the added benefit of not having to purchase those apps again, and you can share the purchases with your new Apple ID using Family Sharing: Family Sharing - Apple
If those steps don't help, let us know when you see the prompt to enter the password. For example, when opening the Photos app, sending an iMessage, or similar.
Cheers.
Thanks for replying with that additional info JoanGY,
This will depend on your situation, as you could keep the old Apple ID listed for the App Store, as that is usually why you get a popup for a different Apple ID and there are apps downloaded with the old Apple ID, while keeping your current Apple ID listed for iCloud.
Another option would be to delete any apps downloaded with the old Apple ID and download again with your current Apple ID so you only use one Apple ID as Apple recommends: Apple ID FAQ - Apple
As an alternative, you could also put both Apple ID accounts into a Family Sharing group, that way your current Apple ID could access apps from the old Apple ID: Set up Family Sharing - Apple Support
Have a great day and thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!
Apple no longer supports itunes since 2018
Apple still support iTunes for Windows OS, see -> Update to the latest version of iTunes
Update to the latest version of iTunes for Windows 10 – Apple Support (UK)
I had another thought about this problem. Somewhere in 2016 or so I had a windows based computer and was using itunes. Apple no longer supports itunes since 2018 so I am wondering if there is any way to update my old version and perhaps that might solve the problem of the old apple id that keeps asking for a password. Comments anyone. I hope so I am not an apple expert like I am sure you are. I am still trying to figure out what other app that it might be causing the problem.
Well thank you but if I put in the old apple id email and set a new password what will happen to my new one that I have used for many years now?
