iphone Photos renames image files synced from folders

I am a photographer and have a number of folders with jpg's which I sync to my iphone. This sync used to include the names of the files. However using Ventura on an M2 MacBookPro and iOS 16.4.1 the name of the synced files vanishes and is replaced by a slash "/", if I airdrop said file back to my computer photos will asign a random name to it. The original name and info is preserved in the meta data which in a long winded way I can access through Adobe Bridge but on the iphone it is gone.

If I airdrop the original file to iphone photos rather than sync it the original name and file size is preserved, but the file is placed in the geneeral photos folder rather than an individual folder. How can I make sure photo compression stays the same and original file names are preserved when syncing image folders from my Mac to my iphone?

Thanks

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 13.3

Thanks for your reply. I am not usually airdropping files if I do they retain their name, if I sync files and I have a number of image folders that are being synced every time, images get compressed and use their original filename.

As a reference later on they do not have any name on my phone and if airdropped back onto my computer they have a new name assigned to them by Photos on the iphone. I do not use PHOTOS on the mac, whichI believe assigns new names to every file while keeping original names buried somewhere in the metadata.

This is the file info of that same file as shown on my MacBook vs the 2 images posted by me earlier on my iPhone...
