QuickTime Player Stopped Working Completely

How come QuickTime Player suddenly stopped working? I have been able to open and scroll through hundreds of mp4 files that I need for work but a few days ago it just gave up on me. I have since downloaded VLC but would much prefer to use QuickTime. Any help?

MacBook Air, macOS 13.3

Hello siamlucas,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities. We're happy to look into this with you.

We want to help but need a bit more information regarding this issue with QuickTime Player. What exactly is happening when you attempt to use this software? If any error messages are received, what does it say?

Once we have more details, we'll be happy to research possible solutions. But in the meantime, try the actions provided in If an app on your Mac stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open - Apple Support to see if they help with the issue you're facing.

  1. Quit and reopen the app - How to force an app to quit on your Mac - Apple Support
  2. Restart your Mac - Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support
  3. Check for updates - Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support

Best regards.
