After customizing the lock screen, one of my two "home pages" of app icons disappeared.

Yes, I know that. The problem arose because of my customizing the lock screen, following the article you referenced. Doing that caused one of the "home pages" of app icons to disappear. And I verified that the missing page was not merely hidden (per the Apple article on hiding and unhiding home pages: see footnote). Fortunately, when I created a 2nd lock screen, it inherited both home pages from the 1st lock screen, including the one that wasn’t being displayed.

I'd like to emphasize that I did not desire to create multiple lock screens with different app layouts. I merely wanted to preserve the existing app layout.

I posted my comment because others who might have the same problem should try the solution that worked for me — creating an additional lock screen per the article you referenced.

Of course, the disappearance of a home page is a BUG, and bugs are unpredictable by definition, so there is no guaranty that a given solution will work for everyone. Even so, it's useful to have more solutions to try.

I solved the problem by creating a new lock screen. Both of my original home pages of app icons were magically restored in the new lock screen.

A clue is that, during "customizing lock screen" mode, the buggy lock screen had a "Do Not Disturb" icon on the bottom, whereas the new lock screen that restored my home pages had a "Focus" icon on the bottom. (In Settings > Focus, Focus status is Off, and I do not have any Do Not Disturb schedule or Focus Filter.)
