Airdrop Broken Mac OS & iOS

I am completely unable to share files between my iPhone & Macbook with Airdrop, in either direction. I am pretty sure it started after updating to iOS 16.4.1, but no matter what I do - reset network settings, NVRAM, log out/in of iCloud, etc. - all of the "solutions" I've found online - nothing has worked. I used to rely on Airdrop all the time, and it is really driving me crazy to not be able to use it anymore. I'm not willing to update to Ventura & risk all of the other problems that have been reported, but there has to be another way to restore it's function. Thank you in advance for any advice.
