Can't disable sleep hard drives at all.
My 2023 M2 Max MBP is attached to an OWC Thunderbay 6, populated with 4 14TB drives formatted as a RAID5 array using OWC's SoftRAID driver, and 2 8TB drives as standard storage. When this device was attached to my 2019 27" iMac, it was easy to disable the "sleep hard drives," and the RAID drives and storage drives were constantly available. Since moving to the M2 MBP, with all drives replaced with new Toshiba and WD drives, the RAID and storage drives sleep constantly. They do not disconnect, as I've seen in some other reports, but each time I need to access any of those drives, the entire collection has to spin up and resync. It's not only annoying, it's a productivity-killer.
The Thunderbay has been attached to the MBP directly, or to an OWC Thunderbolt 3 dock, without any difference in this performance problem. Ventura is up to date, as is the RAID software from OWC. Setting in the Battery/Options panel are set to Never put hard drives to sleep (regardless of battery or adapter power) and Never Wake for network access, though I would certainly prefer that it did wake when necessary...
I've run out of places to look, things to read, and support departments to consult.
Is anyone else experiencing an issue like this? Any luck solving it?
Thanks,
