That depends on how long it has been downed. The Apple Watch is not waterproof. So, keep it out of water, the best you can.

If the iPhone is sufficiently dunked or is damaged, yes, the TrueDepth camera can fail.

And if it’s been dunked, it’s not considered to be repairable.

Your best remaining option is to direct a breeze of dry air over the iPhone, and maybe it’ll start working again.

The iPhone is water resistant.

This is not the same thing as waterproof.

Exposing your iPhone to water can cause all kinds of issues.
