my macbook wont let me download anything on safari

How can I fix my MacBook? It’s pretty old but in great condition. It’s not a storage issue either. I just can’t download anything online from safari. It keeps stopping instantly.

Safari stuck on downloading in Mac When I try to download any file either it is a pdf or just a simple word document it is saying that the file is unknown and then it just starts preparing file to download and that preparation never ends. I download files from trusted websites like credit scores or resumes from indeed. Safari is up to date and my mac is not even a year old. I already tried clearing cache and logging out from my Apple ID. Nothing works. Please let me know how to fix it.
